Since coming on the
market, the Wilderness 18 has quickly become our most popular canoe. The hull, designed by Keith Robinson, is fast and stable. This canoe carries a "truckload" of gear and handles extremely well in rough water. The tracking is straight, but it can be easily turned when needed. This design is becoming the canoe of choice for outfitters in the Boundary Waters and Quetico. Simply put... |

Novice and experienced
paddlers will love this canoe. Keith Robinson designed it to be very stable and also track
straight. However, we were very pleased to discover how fast it is, particularly for a 16
foot canoe. This canoe is good for fishing , day outings, and trips of up to two weeks in duration. Another surprising discovery we made during initial testing of this design is that it is also an excellent solo canoe. It is very versatile and does many things extremely well. |

The
16 foot Prospector is recommended as the "perfect canoe" by Bill Mason
in his book, "Path of the Paddle". We wanted to increase the carrying
capacity so we lengthened it out to 17.5 feet. Our 17.5 Prospector is slightly less
manoeuvrable than the 16 foot prospector, but we feel that the extra carrying capacity,
straighter tracking, and higher speed are well worth it. The prospector 17.5 has a higher capacity and in the hands of experienced paddlers, it is able to withstand rough water much better than straight-keeled, lower sided canoes. These characteristics make this design, an excellent choice for rugged wilderness tripping. |

If you love soloing, you will love this
canoe. It tracks straight and fast. The wonderful thing is that it can give you many of
the advantages of a canoe as well as a kayak. You can put a front and rear cover on it and
paddle it using a canoe or a kayak paddle. The height adjustable sliding seat allows you to sit low for rough water conditions, or sit up high in calm water. It can be ordered with an optional removable yoke which makes it ideal for portaging. |
